Students at Rialto Middle School use teleconference technology, TelePresence from Cisco, to watch a performance of Chinese dancers from the Confucius Institute in San Diego Thursday February 2, 2012. The Rialto students, from the middle school's Honors History program, were able to interact with middle school students from San Diego, high school students from El Cajon and Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Los Angeles. The technology is the first of its kind in Rialto Unified School District and school officials say at least three more exchanges with the Confucius Institute are planned in the near future. The events are designed as an opportunity for students, teachers and parents from Rialto and across Southern California to experience Chinese, music, dance, performance and cultural expression.
